Raymond J Evison OBE VMH

the man behind the bloom

Since being awarded his first Chelsea Gold Medal in his early twenties Raymond Evison has spent four decades searching, breeding, introducing and cultivating the best clematis varieties. This distinguished career has seen Raymond introduce over 100 clematis species and cultivars that are now grown in gardens around the world.

Raymond Evison Clematis are selected from the sophisticated breeding program run jointly with Poulsen Roser A/S. These unique cultivars undergo 10 years of development, trial and selection to guarantee that they are reliable, free flowering and top performing clematis. They have all been monitored in outdoor growing sites in Denmark, California and the United Kingdom and represent truly modern forms suitable for today’s homes and gardens. These plants have been the feature of Raymond’s numerous Gold Medal winning exhibits at international flower shows such as Chelsea, Hampton Court, Philadelphia and Toronto.
